Egypt Govt remand Coptic Christian Activist Ramy Kamel and accuse him of joining a ‘terrorist group’.
“Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.”
Hebrews 13:3.
The well respected EIPR (Egyptian initiative for personal rights) have provided an update regarding the status of imprisoned Coptic rights activist Ramy Kamel. Unfortunately Ramy
has been remanded for another 45 days with the main charge of ‘belonging to a terrorist group’! .
It is absurd that we have Coptic Christians being held without trial for belonging to terrorist organizations, however Ramy’s case is unique due to his activism.
Ramy was arrested in November 2019 for speaking out on the plight of Egypt’s Coptic Christians. Ramy is a peaceful individual who spoke factually and
calmly regarding the plight of Egypt’s Copts.
We know most of our followers in Australia and New Zealand here are currently living under hardships due to the Covid related lockdowns.
Today we ask that you at least remember Ramy and in his family in your prayers.
We have written to the Foreign Minister and will contact other Federal MP’s in coming days. It would be great if you could also consider writing to your
local Federal MP where ever you may be in Australia or New Zealand requesting that the Department of Foreign Affairs urges the Egyptian Government to take
another look at this case and to free Ramy.
